Welcome to the 33rd Waffen-Grenadier Division der SS Charlemange. The 33rds are a
ANTI-cheat clan. There is honor on the battlefield. We have 6 squads and 5 servers. The
main purpose of this clan is to have fun. Organized fun. All the time.
We play as one and back each other up all the way. A little about the history. The 33rd SS
was made up primarily of non germans. Not a single unit but a series of succeeding French
collaborations volunteer units that fought in the German Army and later the Waffen-SS.
Please leave any comments you may have in the forum, we hope you enjoy your stay.

What is the Waffen SS?

The Waffen-SS - which translates as "Weapon-SS" or "Armed-SS", was the military wing of the Schutzstaffel. It's
conceptual origins lay in the "politische bereitschaften" - or "political ready reserves" in the early days of the Nazi
movement. These reserves were the fanatical Nazi's who would protect the party leaders and ruthlessly attack all
enemies during the political chaos of Germany in the 1920's & '30's. It is important to distinguish that serving in the
Waffen-SS (a military organization with foreign troops and conscription) wasn't the same as membership in the SS
(a Nazi political organization and executive arm for racial Germans), although the 2 states commingled. The
Waffen-SS was expected to be a military organization absolutely and perfectly obedient and loyal to its master,
Adolf Hitler.  The origins of the Waffen-SS spring from three separate paramilitary units of the SS formed in the early
to mid 1930's.

History of the 33rd Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS Charlemagne
The 33rd Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS Charlemagne (franz·sische Nr.1) was officially formed on February 2nd,
1945 in West Prussia from the Waffen-Grenadier-Brigade der SS Charlemagne. In fact, the Division had been
forming practically since the time the Waffen-Grenadier-Brigade it was officially formed from was itself formed. By
the autumn of 1944 the Vichy government, along with the upper-hierarchy of its more prominent collaborationist
organizations were being driven back into the Reich borders by the advancing western Allied Armies. These various
elements were formed, along with the transitional Waffen-Grenadier-Brigade der SS Charlamagne, into the 33.SS-
Division. In the autumn and winter of 1944, the newly forming elements were never more than 7,500 strong. A
numerical breakdown of the members would include former Brigade members: 1,000, former LVF members: 1200,
former Milice Francaise members: 2,500, former Kriegmsaine volunteers: 1,000, former NSKK and Org.Todt
members: 2,000, for a grand total of around 7,340 men.
